Because of the Panthers' victory and their advancement to the third round of the NHL playoffs, the Bruins will now officially receive a 2027 first-round pick!
The trade involving
Brad Marchand just became much more appealing for Boston.
The Brad Marchand trade is now officially complete between the Boston Bruins and the Florida Panthers
See the confirmation from the excellent Chris Johnston of TSN.
"By advancing past Round 2, Florida will send a 2027 first-round pick to Boston to complete the Brad Marchand trade.
That's a price they'll gladly pay. Marchand was arguably the best player on the ice in the series."
- Chris Johnston
Much better for the Bruins!
Not getting a first-round pick in return for Brad Marchand would have been a real disappointment for them.
Marchand, 37, recorded 4 points in 10 games this season with the Florida Panthers, but a very solid 12 points in 12 playoff games, despite playing on the third line and not being on the top power play unit.
A story to follow in the coming weeks, but this is turning into a huge pickup for the Panthers.
