Earlier this season, we learned that Arber Xhekaj's name was circulating a lot on the NHL trade market.

Kent Hughes received several calls about him.

Especially after his return with the Rocket de Laval, in the American Hockey League, many rumors surfaced, including a more serious one involving the Philadelphia Flyers.

Daniel Brière allegedly offered "a young top 6 forward" in exchange for Xhekaj, an offer that was turned down by Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton.

Kent Hughes still receiving calls for a transaction involving Arber Xhekaj, according to David Pagnotta

This is what the reporter has just reported. See his exact words:

"As recently as this week, teams continue to talk to the Montreal Canadiens about defenseman Arber Xhekaj on the trade market, but the general manager of the Tricolore, Kent Hughes, continues to decline them. Hughes is not interested in trading the solid defenseman, but he is willing to trade some of his other young defensemen." - David Pagnotta, TFP

So, it happened this week! Interesting!

Clearly, Xhekaj generates a lot of interest because even though Kent Hughes has refused everything so far, teams insist and continue to call.

One can imagine that his value is very high.

"Apparently teams around the league are calling about Arber Xhekaj but Habs GM Kent Hughes isn't interested in trading him."

And we absolutely agree with Kent Hughes's decision to keep Arber Xhekaj. If he receives an offer that's too good to refuse, maybe it would be worth considering, but otherwise, we keep the Sheriff!

In 44 games with the CH this season, Xhekaj accumulated 3 goals and 7 assists for a total of 10 points. He had accumulated 11 points in 17 games with the Rocket during his earlier stint with the club.

Clearly, the shoulders of Xhekaj don't worry other teams too much.

Case to follow! Are the Philadelphia Flyers the ones making a comeback? For teams to continue calling, is Kent Hughes leaving a slight doubt when he says he does not want to trade Arber Xhekaj?

We may have the answers to these questions soon.
