The Jets have reportedly placed a star player on the trade market
A new option has just emerged for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens on the trade market, with Nikolaj Ehlers.
And it comes directly from Winnipeg, no less!
According to information from journalist Murat Ates, who has been covering the Jets for quite some time and has good sources, star forward Ehlers could be traded by the draft. Wow.
A trade between the Canadiens and the Jets involving Nikolaj Ehlers and a defenseman?
Moreover, in exchange, Winnipeg would want to acquire talent on the blue line, something the Montreal Canadiens have in abundance.
There is belief that the Winnipeg Jets could trade Nikolaj Ehlers ahead of the draft - Murat Ates
"Because Cheveldayoff would like to improve his defensive corps, and because the Dane has good value on the market. [Nikolaj Ehlers would be available]
Obviously, we know that Kent Hughes wants to add natural talent to his lineup and it can be logical to believe that Ehlers fits this need. Especially in the context where the Jets want a defenseman... And the Canadiens have a surplus on the blue line." - Marc-Olivier Cook
Ehlers' age could "pose a small problem," but it's not as if he's 35 years old either, far from it.
Ehlers, 28 years old, is a 6-foot winger who has amassed 61 points in 82 games this season. He is notably known for his absolutely incredible skating.
Over his NHL career, he has accumulated 201 goals and 457 points, in 598 games.
Would you trade the Jets' 2024 1st round pick, along with young defensemen like Jayden Struble and Justin Barron, to acquire a forward like Ehlers?
All the details are here.
