Kent Hughes Called One Of His Young Stars Before Completing Trade With the Hurricanes

The Montreal Canadiens organization has just released the short documentary on the behind-the-scenes of the 2025 National Hockey League draft.
In this documentary, we learn several very interesting pieces of information, and my favorite sequence is probably around the fifteenth minute, when the trade for Alexander Zharovsky is taking shape.
Let us recall, of course, that last June, during the second day of the NHL draft, the Canadiens made a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes precisely in order to acquire Zharovsky.
The Habs traded the 41st and 49th overall picks of the 2025 draft to the Canes in exchange for the 34th overall pick.. And the 34th overall pick was, of course, used to select young Alexander Zharovsky.
Kent Hughes consulted young star forward Ivan Demidov before finalizing his trade with the Carolina Hurricanes
Before finalizing this deal with the Hurricanes, we actually see (in the video) that Kent Hughes had many discussions.
He consulted Nick Bobrov to know if Zharovsky would be taken earlier, he consulted Vincent Lecavalier, saying that he "was betting on this player," and he even called in young Ivan Demidov for a short phone meeting to ask him for information about Zharovsky!

Afterwards, Hughes calls Ivan Demidov to ask him for advice about Alexander Zharovsky.
It's really great to see!
After this discussion with Demidov, Kent Hughes confirmed the trade with the Carolina Hurricanes and immediately drafted Zharovsky.
Yes, it's extremely refreshing, and the players must really appreciate that!

We can really say that young Ivan Demidov contributed to this trade with the Carolina Hurricanes as well as to the selection of Alexander Zharovsky.
He must have appreciated that so much too!
