Things are heating up in Buffalo, and it's clearly a golden opportunity for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
The team missed the playoffs for a 14th consecutive season, and according to journalist Frank Seravalli, many players are fed up with the organization's poor decisions.
In fact, as much as a quarter of the roster could be available on the trade market, including several key players.

He's had two 36-goal seasons over the past three campaigns and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026.

We know the Canadiens are in search of a top-six forward, and this would be a great chance for Kent Hughes to reunite the Tuch brothers within the Canadiens organization-similar to the Xhekaj brothers, Arber and Florian.
What's more, Alex Tuch's salary is quite manageable at $4.75 million for the 2025-2026 season, and with Sabres GM Kevyn Adams reportedly looking to move players, the asking price for Montreal might be reasonable.
Worst case, Kent Hughes can wait until the summer of 2026 to sign Alex Tuch as a free agent.
