The partnership between the Montreal Canadiens and Christian Dvorak is likely to come to an end in the coming weeks, as he is set to become a free agent.

Over his four seasons in Montreal, the American centerman was never as useful as he was down the stretch of the last campaign, and there's now speculation on whether Kent Hughes should just let him walk.
The line Dvorak centered with Josh Anderson and Brendan Gallagher was one of the most consistent in the second half of the season. A popular host has now made a suggestion for the Canadiens to retain the 29-year-old centerman.

The contract announced by the Tampa Bay Lightning for Yanni Gourde as a basis for bringing Christian Dvorak back to the Montreal Canadiens?

Gourde's signing is certainly interesting for the Montreal Canadiens, and it provides a solid framework for Dvorak.
Jean-Charles Lajoie of TVA Sports stated that the Canadiens should take inspiration from the Tampa Bay Lightning, who just gave Yanni Gourde a six-year contract.
The Quebec forward will earn an annual salary of $2.33 million, and the host emphasized that the Canadiens must keep their third line intact.
However, he also noted that a six-year deal would be excessive, and that a compromise would be ideal.
"You can't go higher than three years."
- Jean-Charles Lajoie

This idea from Jean-Charles Lajoie isn't a bad one, but it would be surprising if Christian Dvorak agreed to a pay cut to return to the Canadiens.
At 29 years old, he has a chance to sign the biggest contract of his career, having earned $4.45 million in 2024-2025.
However, if Dvorak were to agree to a contract worth around $2.33 million per year on a slightly longer term, would you do it?
