Lane Hutson had an absolutely incredible rookie season for the Montreal Canadiens.
As a result, he won the 2025 Calder Trophy, awarded to the NHL's rookie of the year, becoming the first Habs player in over 53 years to achieve such a feat.
Lane Hutson is quite an exceptional player, in the sense that he simply seems like a humble young man, having fun and realizing how incredibly lucky he is to get paid to do what he loves.
He's quite reserved and very dedicated to his sport.
He lives a very quiet lifestyle-and proof of that is the fact that his roommate during his first NHL season was none other than his mother!
Lane Hutson is Literally Asked if He'll Have a New Roommate Next Season
Hutson was indeed asked this question yesterday, and he responded in the most candid way possible, simply saying that he doesn't want to change a winning formula.
Hutson, in the humble fashion that defines him, immediately shifted credit for his Calder Trophy win to others.
He credited his coaches, teammates, close ones, and family-especially his mother.
"For example, the fact that his mother was the one living with him this season in Montreal helped him immensely.
And in front of the media, he didn't hesitate to say that he doesn't want the recipe to change: his mother is invited to spend next hockey season living with him in Montreal again."

So don't expect the young Hutson to have a new roommate next season.
