After a third consecutive elimination in the Conference Final, changes may be necessary for the Dallas Stars.

In fact, changes will be necessary, because their salary cap situation will basically force them to make moves.
As reported by multiple sources, forward Jason Robertson's name could very well end up on the trade market in the coming weeks-and the Montreal Canadiens might be involved.
At least that's what insider Darren Dreger suggested during his appearance on TSN 690's special Stanley Cup Final broadcast.
According to Dreger, Robertson's status as a pending unrestricted free agent in two years could catch the attention of Kent Hughes, who is actively seeking a high-end top-6 forward.
Robertson is a top-tier player who put up 109 points two seasons ago and has just recorded back-to-back 80-point campaigns.
However, it's safe to assume Stars GM Jim Nill wouldn't let him go for cheap-but we know the Canadiens front office has some interesting assets to pull off a major trade.

The Canadiens Have What It Takes to Land Star Forward Jason Robertson, Says Darren Dreger

The Canadiens hold the 16th and 17th overall picks in the upcoming draft, and a player like Logan Mailloux could be a very attractive piece for the Texas organization, which is looking to bolster its right side on defense.
That said, Montreal isn't the only team interested in Jason Robertson.
The Boston Bruins are also reportedly keeping an eye on the 25-year-old American forward.
This will definitely be a fascinating situation to watch unfold this summer, but according to Dreger, the Canadiens are one of the few NHL teams with the necessary assets to pull off a potential trade with the Stars involving Robertson.
