We have a new interesting development on the NHL trade market, this time involving center Casey Mittelstadt.
Today, here is what we've learned.
Casey Mittelstadt was not the target of the Boston Bruins in the trade made with the Colorado Avalanche
Anonymous NHL executive: Re Casey Mittelstadt:
"There was a common feeling that he wasn't their main target when they traded for him; Zellers and the second-round draft pick were" (speaking to James Murphy) - RG
Clearly, the Montreal Canadiens are adapting to the trade market, particularly for the much-discussed second-line center position that is still "vacant," so here's another intriguing opportunity.
"Casey Mittelstadt could potentially be on the move, according to sources"
- RG
Casey Mittelstadt would make a good second-line center for Martin St-Louis, at least while waiting for a certain
Michael Hage.
Casey Mittelstadt, aged 26, is a 6-foot-1, 195-pound center who was the 8th overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2017.
Over the past three seasons, he has produced at rates of 40 points, 58 points, and 59 games (per 82-game pace).
Personally, especially knowing that the price to pay clearly won't be huge, I would absolutely take a shot with Mittelstadt.
