As part of his press briefing today, Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes made some interesting statements.
He revealed the real reason why Jonathan Drouin was not traded today.
"The salary cap has a serious effect on the market. Players like Drouin have a pretty high salary and that probably had an influence on his value. The salary cap has been an issue for teams interested in him."

So that's why Drouin remains a member of the Tricolore until the end of the season.
