Montreal Canadiens on the verge of losing a promising member? A serious rumor suggests Cayden Primeau could be placed on waivers
With the selection of three goalies in the last draft and the signing of Zachary Émond in recent days, it seems there is a surplus of goaltenders within the Canadiens organization.
Given this surplus of players, the ideal candidate to potentially leave the team is perhaps Primeau, who has never been able to establish himself as a regular goalie in the NHL.
However, he will have to go through waivers if the Canadiens wanted to assign him to the Laval Rocket next fall. And as we expect
Jake Allen and
Samuel Montembeault to be in their positions for the start of the season, it is very likely that Cayden Primeau's days in Montreal are already numbered.
A seventh-round pick in 2017 by the Canadiens, Primeau has only secured four victories in 21 NHL games with an average of 4.11 goals conceded per match and a low efficiency percentage of 0.871.
While at one time he was considered the Canadiens' future goalie, he has never been able to seize his opportunity and perhaps a change of scene will be beneficial for him.
The Habs stand a real chance of losing him on waivers.
