As we reported yesterday, the young defenseman of the Montreal Canadiens organization, Nicolas Beaudin, was placed on unconditional waivers in the NHL by Kent Hughes.
A Verdict for Nicolas Beaudin
It's just been confirmed.
Beaudin was not claimed, and therefore, the Habs have officially terminated his contract as of today.
It's over for him within the Canadiens organization, unfortunately.
24 years old and from Chateauguay, Beaudin was a 1st round pick (27th overall) of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018.
He did not have the brilliant start to his career that was expected of him.
He accumulated 6 points in 16 games this season with the Laval Rocket, with a +2 differential. Last season? 25 points in 39 games with a +17 differential.
The numbers are there and are solid, but for some reason that we completely ignore, he really wasn't in favor with his head coach.
Let's hope he can get a fresh start and a new opportunity elsewhere, as he is now a free agent.
