It's already been over a week since Patrick Roy was named head coach of the New York Islanders, and clearly, he wants to impose his vision and make changes.
Patrick Roy Changes a Rule
He becomes the first head coach in the NHL to impose such a rule, but there is a purpose behind it.
He is determined to change the culture and unite his locker room, so drastic changes were necessary.
"Among the habits he's trying to change, he's introduced a new rule: no more lingering on the ice for extra exercises after practice. From now on, everyone leaves together, which strengthens the team's spirit." Via Samuel Doiron
We see this very often in the NHL and obviously with the Montreal Canadiens. Players like to stay on the ice after training, to work on certain things and/or to have fun.
Well, all that is over in New York!
"Roy also demands that all players now leave together after practices!" Via Stefen Rosner
A controversial change that really doesn't have unanimous support on the web, but which proves how determined Patrick is to bond his troops!
