We indeed have a last-minute surprise on NHL waivers, and a new decision for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens.
A new option emerges for the Habs.
Leddy appears to be immediately affected by
Logan Mailloux's arrival in St. Louis, as Mailloux will clearly take over the spot vacated by Leddy.
Nick Leddy placed on waivers by the St. Louis Blues immediately following the acquisition of Logan Mailloux from the Montreal Canadiens
"The Blues have placed D Nick Leddy on regular waivers. The 34-year-old has one year left at $4m - Leddy and the Blues had been working together to find a trade partner where he'd get more opportunity.
Trade hasn't materialized so taking a swing on waivers. Effortless skater.

In the wake of the trade announced by the Montreal Canadiens involving Logan Mailloux and
Zachary Bolduc, a St. Louis Blues defenseman is already paying the price.
Nick Leddy, 34, is a 6-foot, 205-pound defenseman.
A first-round pick of the Minnesota Wild in 2009, he has accumulated 416 points in 1,042 career NHL games, including 33 points over the past two seasons with the Blues.
The Blues' general manager wasn't kidding during his press briefing Tuesday afternoon when he said Mailloux had his NHL spot secured with the Blues.
Clearly, the AHL days are over for Logan Mailloux.
