The NHL Commissioner, Gary Bettman, has officially learned that his multiple efforts over the past 15 years have amounted to nothing.

The Arizona Coyotes are officially dead.

It is recalled that, during the announcement of the team's move to Utah, Bettman took time to say that the goal was to bring the Coyotes back within 5 years.

There was a special clause in the contract, and it wasn't over for the Coyotes. It was simply a small break.

However, today, we can officially say that it is over.

The NHL announces that Alex Meruelo has officially signed all the necessary papers to waive this clause

It's over for the Arizona Coyotes. Incredible.

After all these years, it's finally over for good.

« Per NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly, Alex Meruelo has agreed to and signed all of the necessary agreements and paperwork to relinquish his rights to the Coyotes. The process is complete.

And the renowned informant Frank Seravalli simply added, «Good riddance!»

It's the end of an interminable saga in the NHL, and it's also the end of the project that Gary Bettman had been holding up for so long.

He is certainly disappointed, but it was inevitable.

It is absolutely a heavy failure for the National Hockey League, and it is undoubtedly embarrassing for him.

Details will follow.
