Since the start of the Montreal Canadiens' training camp, the question of the ideal linemate for Ivan Demidov has persisted.
Clearly, the acquisition of a Mason McTavish didn't work, clearly it didn't work with Kirby Dach or Patrik Laine either, but now Martin St-Louis has finally found his answer!

Oliver Kapanen must be Ivan Demidov's linemate to start the season
The two already have great chemistry, and on top of that, Kapanen's work allows Demidov to constantly have puck possession (instead of always chasing after it), which makes a huge difference.
Who would've thought?
It really looks like Demidov's ideal linemate, at least for now, was within the Canadiens' organization all along. And that ideal linemate is Oliver Kapanen.
What a brilliant decision by Martin St-Louis to try Demidov with Kapanen and Newhook.
The immediate results are very impressive!
When Demidov has the puck on his stick this often, the results are pretty incredible!

And that's exactly what Kapanen and Newhook allow him to do, unlike Kirby Dach and Patrik Laine!
