A report written by Maple Leafs journalist David Alter has confirmed that Mitch Marner is dealing with a high ankle sprain. According to the reports surrounding this diagnosis, Marner is day to day for the time being.
If the ankle sprain for Marner is truly a mild one then the expected recovery is anywhere from one to three weeks. With the medical staff that professional sports teams have sooner rather than lately is likely. However, with a sprain, they often take much longer to fully heal.
If Marner returns too early he could further injure the ankle putting him out even longer. The Maple Leafs medical staff have several difficult decisions ahead of them regarding Marner's recovery.
