The clues are increasingly numerous, and they all point to defenseman Artyom Levshunov at the 2nd overall pick for the Blackhawks.
Most bookmakers practically consider it a done deal for Levshunov in Chicago (odds of 1.25), but more importantly, the highly respected journalist Scott Powers just published this.
And he has very good sources.
This indeed gives hope for the Canadiens.
Additionally, let's mention that the Blackhawks don't necessarily need to hide their intentions as much as the other top 5 teams, as they are not dependent on anyone. (They have the 2nd pick and we all know the 1st overall pick will be Macklin Celebrini)
This is therefore a very interesting development for Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, especially since many analysts believe that the Anaheim Ducks and the Columbus Blue Jackets are not aiming for Ivan Demidov.
If confirmed, the young forward would thus be available at the 5th overall pick for Montreal.
This is a big story to follow, but for what it's worth, Demidov is now the favorite to become the 5th overall pick for the Montreal Canadiens (2.60) ahead of a certain Cayden Lindstrom (3.50).
That would be truly extraordinary.
Levshunov, 18, has amassed 35 points in 38 games this season in the NCAA, with Michigan State. He is very solid and very complete.
