According to the renowned Pierre LeBrun of TSN, and as we reported last week, Kent Hughes has indeed just put a significant piece on the trade market.

As the teams already eliminated from the playoffs slowly begin their summer shopping, Hughes would have set the pace.

The rumor has been circulating for a few days, but it is confirmed.

A big piece of the Habs on the market ahead of the 2023 draft?

According to the reputable insider LeBrun, four 2023 first-round picks are officially available on the trade market, including the Montreal Canadiens' pick (acquired from the Florida Panthers). Wow.

We are talking about four picks in the second half of the first round available.

As part of his "Insider Trading" segment, LeBrun advanced that his sources indicate that the famous 2023 first-round pick of the Panthers, acquired by the Habs last season, would be on display. In exchange, the Canadiens would be targeting a promising player between 20 and 23 years old.

Recall that we are obviously talking about the pick acquired in the Ben Chiarot transaction.

To the Panthers: Ben Chiarot

To the Habs: 2023 first-round pick, 2022 fourth-round pick, prospect Ty Smilanic

We can bet that there will be a lot of action and negotiations behind the scenes leading up to the 2023 NHL draft, especially in the offices of the Habs.

Kent Hughes has not hidden the fact that he would really like to conclude a new Kirby Dach-like transaction. To be continued!
