You heard a lot about forward Alexandre Texier today, as his name suddenly started circulating more than usual across the NHL world.
Quite simply because the best hockey insider in the world, Elliotte Friedman, suddenly
linked the name of forward Texier to Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens this Thursday morning.
As mentioned in previous articles on the subject, it's always more intriguing when a "depth" player is suddenly linked to a team by a big name, like Alexandre Texier being connected to the Montreal Canadiens by top insider Elliotte Friedman.
Anyway, many wondered if something might happen today in this case, and we now have movement.
Forward Alexandre Texier will be placed on NHL waivers today: the Montreal Canadiens can now try to claim him for free
That's what multiple insiders have confirmed:
The Canadiens will now have the option to place a claim if they choose to.
Texier, 26 years old, is a fast forward standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 196 pounds, who was a 2nd-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2017.
He has a solid 91 points in 240 career NHL games, including 40 goals, and he recorded 11 points (in 31 games), 30 points (in 78 games), and 20 points (in 36 games) over the past seasons.
He's definitely a name to watch in the coming hours, especially with the injury bug hitting the Canadiens hard and Newhook, Dach, and Laine all out long-term.
