Multiple credible sources in Montreal and around the NHL suggest that Kent Hughes may be working on a move.
Whether internally or
through the trade market, the general manager appears to be exploring ways to improve the lineup, especially with the current injuries.
According to Renaud, Kent Hughes would be very active in helping the Canadiens get out of their slump.
"I think we're not far from a trade."
- Renaud Lavoie
And after what we saw last night from young defenseman
Adam Engstrom, he could very well be the one arriving soon as reinforcements for Martin St-Louis' squad.
In any case, it's a situation to monitor because there have been increased chatter and whispers about it over the past few hours.
Kent Hughes on the verge of making a move on the trade market and/or bringing in young Adam Engstrom as reinforcements in Montreal
"Watching Adam Engstrom again tonight with the Rocket, we must be very close to a first call-up to Montreal."
- Anthony Marcotte of BPM Sports, who adds that young Engstrom is by far Laval's best defenseman this season.
A situation to watch today!
Indeed, it certainly couldn't hurt!
Adam Engstrom, 22 years old, is a left-shot defenseman standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 198 pounds, selected in the 3rd round by the Montreal Canadiens in 2022.
He has 8 points in 16 games this season with the Laval Rocket, along with a +5 rating, while playing in all the most important situations.
Whether it's a trade or a call-up, the Canadiens seem poised for some kind of movement. All that's left now is to see which direction Kent Hughes chooses.
