Unusual scene with St-Louis and Xhekaj draws attention ahead of the Kings game

Just a few hours before their matchup against the Los Angeles Kings, the Canadiens held a morning skate that lasted about 25 minutes - and during that skate, we saw new footage of Nick Suzuki clearly fighting through a lower-body issue...

We also witnessed for five of those 25 minutes, St-Louis and Xhekaj in deep discussion.

It's very rare to see something like that, but we love it!

Martin St-Louis was very animated and passionate, clearly giving some advice to Xhekaj... But yes, it's uncommon to see a head coach spend one-fifth of a practice session talking to a single player!

That said, there's a big challenge ahead for Arber Xhekaj - and a big decision coming for Martin St-Louis - with the relatively imminent return of young defenseman Kaiden Guhle.

When Guhle returns, St-Louis will have to decide between Xhekaj and Jayden Struble: which one will come out of the lineup, and which one will end up eating popcorn in the press box.

It's a storyline to keep a close eye on over the next few days.

Arber Xhekaj, 24, is a left-handed defenseman standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 240 pounds. This season, he has one point in 14 games, along with 20 penalty minutes and a -2 plus/minus rating.
