The goaltender of the Montreal Canadiens, Samuel Montembeault, just made a big gesture live from Brossard, the day after another difficult game for him.

Last night's game in Montreal ended in another tough defeat, an 8-4 loss to the Capitals. Things only got worse as Montembeault conceded 3 goals on 10 shots... and Jake Evans later left the game after a controversial elbow from Tom Wilson. Definitely a night to forget.
However, for the first time this season-at least from what we've seen-it wasn't Lane Hutson who was first on the ice today in Brossard. It was Samuel Montembeault!
It's very unusual to see this, but more than 45 minutes before the scheduled start of his team's regular practice, Montembeault was already at work. Wow!

A gesture that says a lot about Samuel Montembeault, live from Brossard

Clearly, the Quebec-born goalie wants to do everything he can to find his bearings again, regain his confidence, and get his season back on track.
"45 minutes ahead of the start of practice, Samuel Montembeault is the first player to step on the ice."

- Eric Engels
They actually have a pretty special technique they're working on today, as Samuel is receiving virtually no shots.
"The goalie isn't receiving any shots. He's working on his quickness with Éric Raymond and Alex Burrows.

The goalie coach and the goaltender are communicating a lot throughout the drills."

- Patrick Guillet
Montembeault therefore put in a lot of extra time today, in preparation for tomorrow night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, live from the Bell Centre.
Samuel Montembeault, 29 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 218-pound goaltender who has a 4-5-1 record this season, with a goals-against average of 3.71 and a save percentage of .852.
Will it be him or Jakub Dobes? Who would you send in net for the Montreal Canadiens tomorrow night against the Toronto Maple Leafs?
