The player Hughes would like to draft in the first round is revealed
According to Stéphane Gonzalez, Kent Hughes and the Canadiens are very interested in forward Tij Iginla.
Don't be surprised if he is the Habs' first-round pick in the upcoming draft.
As you know, unless there's a huge turnaround, the CH will select between the 5th and 7th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NHL Draft.
On this subject, see a very interesting piece of information.
"Per Stephane Gonzalez on BPM Sport, Habs management would've already met 4 times with Tij Iginla.
They love him and he's their main target in the 7-8 range."
- William Leblanc
"Hmm interesting 👀
Thoughts on the Habs potentially drafting Tij Iginla?"
@stephgonzz mentioned this afternoon that the Habs showed a lot of interest in Tij Iginla, having already met with him 4 times so far.Not surprised that he's the type of player the Canadiens management is interested in. A guy who contributes during the season but is built for the playoffs. It remains to be seen if they will be in a position to select him on June 28th.
This will be a fascinating case to watch, and a case that is likely to cause a lot of talk by June.
Iginla, 17 years old, is ranked as a top-12 overall pick in the next draft by most experts. This season in the WHL, he has accumulated 84 points, including 47 goals, in 64 games. (plus 5 goals in 3 playoff games)
He is really excellent, and yes, he is the son of a certain Jarome Iginla!
Case to follow.
