The name Mitch Marner is everywhere across the National Hockey League, especially since the elimination of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The same goes for Montreal Canadiens fans, who are divided on the topic.

Obviously, the rumor is that Marner will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, and it's understandable that it's creating such a buzz.
It's not every day that a 100-point elite player becomes available on the free agent market.

Pierre LeBrun has an update on Mitch Marner, and it's fantastic news for Canadiens fans hoping to see him land in Montreal

Everything points to Marner actually being available! Wow!
Pierre LeBrun: "I think pretty much it's a done deal [Mitch Marner] is going to market"; "very very likely" he leaves Toronto.

- TSN 1050

For an insider as credible and cautious as Pierre LeBrun to go on record like that, it means this is serious.
So it looks like Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton will have the opportunity to make a run at Mitch Marner.
Let's also recall what Gorton said a few weeks ago:
This will be a huge story to follow!
Say what you will about Mitch Marner, but he remains an elite 28-year-old player who has produced at a pace of 103, 101, 101, 110, and 100 points over his last five seasons, and on top of that, he's strong in both ends of the rink.
Personally, at the right price, I'd take him on my team tomorrow morning, especially since he could complete an absolutely incredible line with Ivan Demidov in Montreal.
