Pascal Vincent Makes Surprising Decision on Top Canadiens Prospect Jacob Fowler
Montreal Canadiens fans are closely watching what's happening with the Laval Rocket right now.
Quietly, these are future Habs players making a deep playoff run in the American Hockey League, and they're telling us a lot about their future within the organization.
That said, the goaltending situation is also under close scrutiny.
On one side, we have young
Jacob Fowler, who many view as the Canadiens' goalie of the future (and who needs to play big games to develop), and on the other, there's
Cayden Primeau, who may have been the best goaltender in the entire AHL this season and was outstanding in his team's last game.
With that in mind, head coach Pascal Vincent had to make a decision, and he just did.
We were eager to get our answer, and here it is.
A change has just been announced involving Canadiens goaltenders Cayden Primeau and Jacob Fowler: Primeau will finally get the start tonight!
While top RDS journalist Luc Gélinas had just reported this..
"Cayden Primeau's strong play on Wednesday changes nothing in the goalie rotation. As expected, Jacob Fowler will be in net for the Rocket tonight." - Luc Gélinas
..we now have a complete reversal.
"Based on how practice was going, we thought Jacob Fowler would get the start tonight, but after his shutout on Wednesday, Cayden Primeau will get a second straight start." - Luc Gélinas
This is now the official and final announcement.
Cayden Primeau will be in goal tonight.
We will provide more details shortly, but Jacob Fowler will be on the bench tonight for the Laval Rocket, in favor of Cayden Primeau.
Game Three will be played live from Place Bell at 7:00 p.m., with the Rocket leading the series 2-1 against the Americans.
