Arguably the best NHL insider, Elliotte Friedman, just made a fascinating statement about Ivan Demidov. It really makes you believe that the Montreal Canadiens' top prospect could join the team as early as this season.
Imagine how huge that would be for the playoff race.
But that was before Elliotte Friedman said this:
Elliotte Friedman on Ivan Demidov signing with the Habs after his SKA season ends:
"It sure seems like the Montreal Canadiens are hopeful it's gonna work out.
Obviously, they've done everything they can to make it that it's going to work out.
I know several people who've gone to watch him play this year and they say he's an absolute stud.
He is as good as advertised. He understands why both the Canadiens and their fans are excited to have him."

Friedman is clearly stating here that the Montreal Canadiens "are quite hopeful" of bringing Demidov into their lineup as early as this season.
Imagine how huge that would be in this highly competitive NHL playoff race.
The Canadiens are hopeful of signing Ivan Demidov as soon as his KHL season ends
I'm trying not to get too excited, and the goal is definitely not to give you false hope, but I genuinely believe that this could happen, especially after a statement like this from an insider as well-connected as Elliotte Friedman.
In any case, the Canadiens are trying hard!
