Being from Quebec and fluent in French, it's clear that Roy is aware of the many harsh criticisms that have circulated about Patrik Laine in recent days and weeks.
Today, he opened up and came to the defense of his teammate and linemate.

Here's what Roy had to say earlier today in front of the Montreal media.
"Patrik Laine is an excellent leader for me."

"He's just a regular guy and an excellent leader for me.
On the bench, he often comes [to talk to me] about adjustments that need to be made.
Just like Newhook, he communicates a lot, and that's important for me.

And, as Anthony Martineau points out, this perfectly aligns with what Juraj Slafkovsky previously said about Laine, he is engaged on the bench, enjoys guiding young players, and is highly appreciated by his teammates.
