Kent Hughes has just confirmed it with a statement that doesn't leave much room for interpretation. Hutson will sign with the Canadiens:
He will eventually come to an agreement with the Habs, and it's extremely reassuring.
We won't experience a situation like Adam Fox.
Hutson, who is currently playing with Boston University and has incredible chemistry with a certain Macklin Celebrini (future first overall pick), has a historic production for a young NCAA defenseman.
He has outperformed players like Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar. Let's temper expectations, but the statistics are the statistics.
Hutson, 20, has accumulated 44 points in 33 games this season, after having amassed 48 points in 39 games the previous season in the NCAA. (27 goals in total)
It's very solid, and the Canadiens seem to have made a steal with the 62nd overall pick in 2022.
Quinn Hughes had collected 33 points in 32 games and 29 points in 37 games, while Cale Makar had for his part amassed 49 points in 41 games as well as 21 points in 34 games. (all in the NCAA)
We will closely monitor the results of Boston University in the coming weeks.
