It will be the end for 33-year-old forward Brendan Gallagher with the Montreal Canadiens in 2027, according to Stu Cowan
Here's his exact statement:
"Gallagher, 33, has one more season after this remaining on his contract with a US$6.5 million salary-cap hit and as the longest-serving player on the team.
I do think he will finish his contract with the Canadiens. I also don't think that's to the detriment of younger players. Instead, it gives them more time to develop.
Gallagher will be 35 when his contract expires and I can't see the Canadiens keeping him."
It's worth noting that when Gallagher's contract expires, he'll be 35 years old, and it would be rather surprising if the Canadiens' management wanted to keep him-especially considering the number of quality young prospects within the organization.
