At the recent NHL Draft this past June, the Montreal Canadiens didn't have a first-round pick, but Kent Hughes still managed to make a solid move.
By selecting Russian prospect
Alexander Zharovsky early in the second round, you could say Hughes pulled off quite an acquisition.
The 18-year-old forward, according to some experts, should have gone in the first round, and Canadiens fans just received a real gift if we go by the words of none other than Bob Hartley.
He had very high praise for the Canadiens' prospect and made quite a bold statement about him:
"He's a real machine.
He's not
Ivan Demidov, but he's not very far off."
- Bob Hartley
Montreal Canadiens' acquisition Alexander Zharovsky is "not very far from young Ivan Demidov," according to Bob Hartley
"Hartley mentioned that he did his homework and spoke with people who know Zharovsky well to find out what kind of kid he is off the ice.. and in that respect, he only heard positives: we're talking about a guy who works hard and has a strong work ethic."

Wow! Let's just say those words are enough to make Canadiens fans dream.
This season, Alexander Zharovsky is playing for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the KHL, but he is currently on the injured list. He should be back in action soon and who knows, maybe he'll follow in Ivan Demidov's footsteps and make his way to Montreal sooner than expected.
