We have an interesting signing to announce within the Montreal Canadiens organization.

Even though he had just been released by Kent Hughes and the Canadiens, and even though his contract wasn't even qualified earlier this week by Montreal, here comes a pleasant surprise.

Signing Alert: Xavier Simoneau and Three Others Return to the Canadiens Organization

See the official announcement.
"Rocket agree to terms on a one-year, one-way AHL contract with forward Xavier Simoneau and defenseman Josh Jacobs and on a one-year, two-way AHL contract with defenseman Darick Louis-Jean and goaltender Hunter Jones. "

- Laval Rocket
Xavier Simoneau, 24 years old, is a 5-foot-7, 178-pound forward who was drafted 191st overall (sixth round) by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021.
So he wasn't selected by the current Habs management, led by Kent Hughes.
He was a pick from the Marc Bergevin era, but it's still great to see Hughes and his group bring him back.
Yes, this is a very pleasant surprise!
This season with the Laval Rocket, Simoneau recorded 21 points in 58 games, including 5 goals, and collected 88 penalty minutes.
Last season, also in Laval, he tallied 37 points in 53 games, including 9 goals, with 111 penalty minutes.
Let's once again welcome Xavier Simoneau back!
Joshua Jacobs, 29, is a right-shot defenseman who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 223 pounds. He was selected 41st overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2014, nearly a first-round pick. He has appeared in three NHL games.
Darick Louis-Jean, 24, is a left-shot defenseman who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 200 pounds. He recorded 29 points in 70 games last season in the ECHL. He played three seasons in the QMJHL (with the Gatineau Olympiques and Rimouski Océanic).
Hunter Jones, 24, is a goaltender who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 194 pounds. He was selected 59th overall by the Minnesota Wild in 2019 (2nd round).
With the Trois-Rivières Lions this past season, he posted a record of 15-6-6, a goals-against average of 2.87 (0.76 in the playoffs), and a save percentage of .905 (.970 in the playoffs).
He now becomes the fifth goaltender in the Montreal Canadiens organization and the third for the Laval Rocket, behind Samuel Montembeault, Kaapo Kahkonen, Jakub Dobes, and Jacob Fowler.
Welcome back and good luck!
