A rather unfortunate news involving a young Montreal Canadiens player has just been announced for Kent Hughes.

In the last few minutes, it was announced that young defenseman Daniil Sobolev, a right-hander as well, is leaving North America to continue his professional career in Europe.

Daniil Sobolev leaves the Canadiens and signs a contract with Spartak Moscow in the KHL

This is a two-season contract for the young defenseman.
Sobolev, 21, is returning to play in his home country after spending the last three seasons in Canada, playing for the Windsor Spitfires, Niagara IceDogs, and Brantford Bulldogs.
Sobolev, a fifth-round pick by the Montreal Canadiens in 2021, has amassed 51 points in the OHL and more than 150 penalty minutes. He is indeed a 6-foot-1, 223-pound right-handed defenseman.
We wish him the best of luck in the future.
In 2021, the Canadiens drafted Logan Mailloux, Riley Kidney, Oliver Kapanen, Dmitri Kostenko, William Trudeau, Sobolev, Joshua Roy, Xavier Simoneau, and Joe Vrbetic.
Therefore, we can still talk about a very interesting crop nonetheless.
