Following the many decisions and trades made by Kent Hughes in recent hours, we already have a projected lineup for the Montreal Canadiens.
The well-known site DailyFaceoff (DFO) has just released its first projection of the Canadiens' lineup, and one element is already sparking strong reactions.
Indeed, according to them,
Arber Xhekaj would be left out of Martin St-Louis' lineup - a decision that is clearly far from unanimous.
Arber Xhekaj Removed from the Montreal Canadiens Lineup According to DFO
According to them, here is what Martin St-Louis' lineup could look like to start next season, based on Kent Hughes' recent moves and assuming the GM's work is done:
That could be an interesting group, especially if Dach returns to his 2023 form.
That said, it's mainly the group of defensemen that's causing a stir among Canadiens fans.
Indeed, this lineup leaves Xhekaj on the outside looking in - something I really don't like and that many fans will also dislike.
Personally, I'd go with the following defensive pairings..
Kaiden Guhle - Noah Dobson
Lane Hutson - Mike Matheson
Arber Xhekaj - Alexandre Carrier
In any case, this exercise once again shows that Arber Xhekaj's spot with the Canadiens is far from guaranteed, especially since many expect
David Reinbacher to join the Habs as early as this fall.
And you - what's your prediction on this?
