We just heard some disturbing news for Hughes and it concerns forward Sean Monahan

Among the many news of the day for the Montreal Canadiens, there is an important one that is slightly overlooked.

Of course, Cole Caufield was present at today's press conference and answered questions from reporters, while Joel Edmundson, Kirby Dach, Nick Suzuki and Christian Dvorak were absent from the morning practice.

In the case of Edmundson, it seems more worrisome, but for the others, we are talking about simple treatment days.

Anyway, now we want to talk about Sean Monahan, who was also absent.

A complication for Monahan?

Monahan, who has not played since Dec. 5 due to a lower-body injury, had recently resumed practicing with his teammates while wearing a non-contact jersey.

He appeared close to a return to play.

However, in the last few days, mysteriously, Monahan has started to miss work again and that is obviously worrisome. He seems to have backed off in his return to play.

This morning, for the third straight practice, Monahan was not on the ice.

"Sean Monahan is not at practice this morning for a third straight day..." - Renaud Lavoie

"Sean Monahan who had started practicing again misses a third day in a row. It's getting a little worrisome in his case" - Luc Gélinas

This is definitely a case to watch.

We just learned that Monahan will meet with doctors on Thursday night to get an update (which doesn't bode well).

This is certainly worrisome news for general manager Kent Hughes, especially with the NHL trade deadline approaching (if Hughes wants to trade Monahan for a 2023 first round pick)

Monahan must be healthy.

In 25 games this season, Monahan has six goals and 11 assists. For details:

Recall that Monahan had hip surgery last year.
