Today, the general manager of the Montreal Canadiens, Kent Hughes, held a press conference with Vincent Lecavalier.
Obviously, with the draft just a few days away, the journalists really grilled Hughes, trying to get important information for the 2022 draft.
But also, of course, regarding the identity of the player who will be drafted with the first overall pick. Hughes, as a good experienced hockey head, hid his game very well, but according to some, it was Vincent Lecavalier who gave us a good clue.
"Questions I would ask - How many times did you see Slafkovsky at the Worlds and what are your impressions, and also, if you're still not decided on who to draft (with the first pick), as you say, why a nice dinner and a call from Vinny for Wright, but nothing for the other two. (with a wink)" - Grant McCagg
It's true that during the media availability, Lecavalier was very complimentary of Shane Wright and talked about him a lot, but hey, you be the judge.
It's true that this is rather peculiar. Lecavalier has talked to Wright and had good discussions with him, while for Juraj Slafkovsky and Logan Cooley, it's not done yet (and the draft is in a few days)
