The Buffalo Sabres have been putting on a show since the beginning of the campaign. Don Granato's team has a record of three wins and one loss, good for second place in the Atlantic Division.

Despite the team's strong performance, the fans don't seem to be coming out to watch them as the stands are still empty.
However, it is understandable that the fans are so few at the KeyBank Center as it has been 10 consecutive seasons since the Sabres have made the playoffs.
Following several lotteries in the Sabres' favor, we would have thought that Buffalo would have rebounded, but it seems that the team is stuck in its rebuilding process.
After four games at home this year, the team has posted a per-game fan average of 7,905. This is obviously atrocious for the Sabres when their arena has a capacity of 19,200 seats.
On the other hand, the last team to have an attendance of less than 10,000 fans was the 1999-2000 New York Islanders with an average of 9,748.

So Buffalo just broke a record that has stood for over 20 years, but this one is nothing to write home about.
The Sabres currently average only two goals against per game, which puts them among the best defensive teams in the league.
It will be interesting to see if Don Granato's team's defensive play holds up this season. If it does, let's hope the fans show up.
