Marc Bergevin had stated earlier this week that he was not going to make a trade in order to improve his team right away.

However, that doesn't stop the general manager from sending his scouts to evaluate potential targets. That was the case this week, as representatives from 15 teams were on hand at the Blackhawks-Canucks game two days prior. Yes, you guessed it, there was a Habs representative at that game.

As luck would have it, this was the first game of the season for forward Dylan Strome, who is currently awaiting a trade. Is Marc Bergevin preparing a surprise?
Apparently, the asking price would be between a third or fourth round pick. At that price, he's a no brainer.
Strome, 24, was the third overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-3 behemoth has a 51-point season in 58 games behind the tie dating back to the 2018-2019 season. He has a $3 million payroll impact through the end of this campaign. He doesn't seem to be in the good graces of head coach Jeremy Colliton, but that doesn't take away from the talent he has.
Strome could definitely come in and help the Canadiens' offense, and right now. You can't turn down that kind of help, especially for a third or fourth round pick. Where do we sign?
Maybe Marc Bergevin will take advantage of his professional relationship with the Blackhawks to get Strome, who knows? To be continued...
