This morning, new Montreal Canadiens executive vice president of hockey operations, Jeff Gorton, introduced himself to his new fans, as well as the media. It was with an introduction in French that the former Rangers general manager jumped into the water for his first Montreal media bath.

Even if his French was not the most fluent, we must admit that the effort was there. He even promised to learn the language of Molière eventually.
The Habs are currently looking for a billingual general manager, because Montreal would have exploded if Gorton, an ENGLISH speaker, had been officially named the team's general manager. Executive vice president, hockey operations is just a title, but Gorton will still be the boss, right?
P.J. Stock made a very interesting point about this situation on his Twitter account today.
According to him, indirectly, he mentioned that the Tricolore was focusing on getting a French-speaking general manager, instead of choosing the best possible candidate.
He clearly asked all Habs fans to broaden their horizons regarding the next GM of the team. For him, the important thing is that the next boss is competent, regardless of the language he speaks.
