That's it! The Gorton era has well and truly begun in Montreal. Just by listening to his press conference, we already feel that Mr. Gorton has a plan and a precise philosophy with which he wants to build his team.
Regarding his general manager, the former architect of the Rangers admitted that his protégé will most likely be an inexperienced general manager who knows the business side of hockey.
Also, don't expect the announcement of the name of this one to come in the next few days. Gorton did explain that he would take his time to make the right choice, which is why the final decision may be made after the holidays.
As for the head coach, Gorton has now made a vote of confidence in Dominique Ducharme, stating that his position is "safe", at least until the end of the current season.
To conclude his interview, Jeff Gorton also confirmed that he would be transparent with the fans if he were to eventually begin a rebuilding process with his team, just as he did with the Rangers at the time.
