Joshua Roy was selected 150th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the last National Hockey League amateur auction. With his array of skills, he could have come out ahead, but there was one flaw that most likely hurt him.

That flaw was that he was overweight and came in excessively out of breath after a short stint with the Saint John Sea Dogs. When he arrived with the Sherbrooke Phoenix, a bell rang.

"I came to the bench and I was burned out. I got here (Sherbrooke) and all the guys were in shape. I kind of realized I was behind. It rang a bell," said Roy.

When he arrived with the Phoenix, Roy weighed no less than 207 pounds (6 feet), and today, he can thank the Phoenix culture because he had a BIG realization. His current weight: 186 pounds.

"In Sherbrooke, they have a really good organization. The workouts are really intense with our coach Stéphane Julien. You don't get a pass, you have to work all the time. The sessions in the gym are extremely hard. For the development of a player, it's the perfect place. I don't know what other places in the league are like, but here it's really amazing. We practice every day," said Roy.

Oh, is Roy saying that Saint John doesn't take fitness as seriously as Sherbrooke? You be the judge!
