Major statement regarding Jake Allen and a possible trade to come

We will soon be halfway through the NHL season and as many experts will say, it will be time for the famous mid-season review.

But as Michaël Petit of Danslescoulisses.com reports, former Habs coach and now TVA Sports analyst Michel Therrien didn't wait for the team's 41st game to give his thoughts on the current season during the broadcast of the Habs' game against the Washington Capitals on December 31. But he also took the opportunity to give an update on certain issues within the organization.

But what caught the attention of some fans was the statement Therrien made about goaltender Jake Allen.

According to him, number 34 could be a great option for some teams between now and the trade deadline and Kent Hughes could even receive a first round pick in return for Allen's services.


That would be a big return!


However, the former Habs coach mentioned that he would be surprised if Hughes traded his number one goalie.

As we know, Jake Allen signed a contract extension before the start of the season and the tandem he completes in net with Samuel Montembeault has had some good moments since the start of the season.

Despite rather ordinary performances from both goalies in the last two games, with 7-2 losses to Florida and 9-2 to the Capitals, it's a safe bet that, barring injury, the Habs will finish the season with Allen and Montembeault in net.

It must be said that the lack of relief at the goaltender position within the organization does not help Kent Hughes much right now and even if he were to get a first-round pick in return for Jake Allen, the short-term situation will not favor the Habs.
