An NHL executive reveals a concrete trade offer involving Pierre-Luc Dubois
As reported by Marco Normandin, the well-connected journalist Jeff Marek (Sportsnet) has just dropped a very intriguing statement on this matter.
«Regarding Pierre-Luc Dubois, I received a message from an NHL team executive (not Los Angeles or Washington) who wondered if a trade in which the Capitals acquired Dubois and the Kings received Darcy Kuemper could make sense for both teams.»
- Jeff Marek
We remind you that this comes from a current NHL team executive, so it is credible and quite serious.
We are talking about two undesirable contracts here, although Kuemper's is much less severe, and two needs that would be addressed.
Kuemper, a 34-year-old goaltender, is signed at 5.25 million dollars per year until 2027. He was excellent during his stint with the Los Angeles Kings in 2018. (0.932 save percentage and 2.10 goals-against average)
Dubois, on the other hand, could help the Caps in their youth movement, just as Dylan Strome has done there, while Kuemper could potentially solve the Kings' goaltending problem.
Remember that the Kings traded Gabriel Vilardi, Alex Iafallo, Rasmus Kupari, and a 2024 second-round pick to acquire Dubois last summer. They then offered him a big contract worth 68 million dollars, valid until 2031.
