Last-minute surprise at the waivers: three names available, including a tough guy that Canadiens fans got to know in the pre-season
There's more action than usual at the NHL waivers today.
The renowned Elliotte Friedman reported that three players are available, including a surprise.
Jansen Harkins, 26 years old, has just been acquired by the Penguins, and now Pittsburgh has placed him on waivers. He racked up 50 points in just 44 games in the AHL last season.
Radim Simek, 31 years old, has been a regular defenseman for the Sharks for several seasons. Today, he's on the NHL waiver wire. He has 209 games of experience in his career.
Lastly, Zack MacEwen, a 27-year-old enforcer, was surprisingly placed on waivers by the Ottawa Senators.
He's a winger measuring 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 245 pounds. He has 245 penalty minutes in 188 career games in the NHL. He has one point in 2 games this season, and don't be surprised if he's claimed tomorrow. (The Sens are completely up against the NHL's salary cap)
MacEwen, he's the one who met Arber Xhekaj last month. He stirred up a lot with the young players of the Montreal Canadiens in the pre-season.
