A few months after signing his contract with the Canadiens in June 2017, Jonathan Drouin made a commitment to the Fondation du CHUM. His goal was to donate $500,000 of his own money to the organization over a 10-year period.
Five years later, according to what the Journal de Montréal reports, Drouin has almost completely fulfilled his promise. As of March 31, 2022, he had donated more than $300,000 from his own pocket to the foundation.
Despite this, many are having fun criticizing the CH forward. Under the Facebook publication of the news, many had negative and unconstructive comments about Drouin.
With the way he has been treated since his arrival with the club, there were many times when he could have given up on the project. Instead, he has put all his attention into it by continuing the fundraising, including his golf tournament, and the promotional activities. This is without counting his involvement through the "Jo and his Champions" box program, which welcomes close to 350 young people from all over Quebec to a CH game, and all the charitable activities in which he participates during the year.
Even if the future of the Quebecer in Montreal is uncertain, to say the least, we are certain that he will continue his involvement with the CHUM and that he will keep his initial promise.
