MONTREAL -- Goaltender Sam Montembeault is the Molson Cup recipient for the month of January.
Montembeault was selected first star of the game twice (on January 15 in New York against the Rangers and on January 21 against Toronto) and second star of the game once (on January 24 against Boston). He finished ahead of teammate
Rafael Harvey-Pinard.
In 10 games in January, the 26-year-old netminder posted a 4-6-0 record with a 3.14 goals against average. His .915 save percentage ranked fifth among NHL goaltenders who played at least 10 games. Montembeault registered 323 saves in January, the fourth highest total in the league during that span.
A ceremony honoring the January Molson Cup winner will take place ahead of Saturday's game against the New York Islanders at the Bell Centre.
