Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar accomplished quite a feat Sunday night when he finally got his hands on his first Stanley Cup. With this honor, the 50-year-old can now boast of having completed the triple crown of winning the Championship in all three of North America's major hockey leagues.

Bednar led the South Carolina Stingrays to ECHL honors in 2009 and the Lake Erie Monsters to the AHL title in 2016. Each championship will have allowed him to graduate from the league. It's a safe bet that the one he won on Sunday will give him the keys to his position for a long time to come.

"He's won the Kelly Cup, the Calder Cup and the Stanley Cup. He's so proud of what he does. To see him awarded is special. He's a great person, a great coach and the players believe in him. It was just the right coach, the way he wanted (us) to play and the group we played his style. They all believe in each other." - Joe Sakic

After six seasons at the helm, Bednar will have finally managed to get his hands on the precious trophy. The GM's patience with his coach finally paid off, as opportunities to fire him were present during that time. The club's playoff failures under Bednar did not get the better of him, however, and we can see the results today.
