In the last few seconds, following the official announcement of the Chicago Blackhawks, to confirm the hiring of Luke Richardson as their new head coach, it was the turn of the Montreal Canadiens organization to publish an official press release.

Here it is:

The Canadiens organization would like to sincerely thank Luke Richardson for his contributions to the team during his time in Montreal, having joined the Club in the summer of 2018.

As an assistant coach, he notably helped the Canadiens reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2021. Well liked and respected by the players and the entire staff, Luke has had an undeniable impact on the organization and his colleagues.

"I want to wish Luke the best of luck in his next professional challenge with the Blackhawks. Luke was completely dedicated to the cause of our team, and he has played an important role in recent years. We thank him for his work with us and for his dedication," said Canadiens General Manager Kent Hughes.

Thank you, and good luck Luke! - Montreal Canadiens

So that brings things full circle, and so Kent Hughes and the Habs will have to find a new solid assistant coach to back up Martin St-Louis.

A new personnel move is coming behind the Habs bench.

Marc-André Perreault, who covers the CH and knows the players well, published a message that says it all:

"ALL the players love Luke Richardson. ALL. THE. GANG."

Bred, we are now in search mode, at the Tricolore, and names have already begun to surface. Most notably, Patrick Roy, Joel Bouchard, Rick Bowness, Francis Bouillon and a few others.
