David Savard is more than happy not to have to face Josh Anderson anymore

As with most of the team's new faces, David Savard's adjustment to the Montreal Canadiens' locker room seems to be going very well so far. The former Blue Jackets and Lightning defenseman is thrilled to finally be able to play for his childhood team, and it shows in his attitude as much as in his comments.
He is very satisfied with his first days in the organization, and is slowly but surely getting to know his new teammates.
"It's going great. We have a great group of guys. I'm getting to know the guys more every day. I want to have as much fun as I can. Every day is important. Training camp is short. I want to get into the group as quickly as possible. For sure, the goal remains the same: to win the Stanley Cup."
With the Canadiens, Savard not only has the chance to reunite with several fellow Quebecers in Cedric Paquette, Mathieu Perreault and Jonathan Drouin, but also a former teammate and friend in Josh Anderson, whom he had the chance to be with the Columbus Blue Jackets between 2014 and 2020.
So having already played about six seasons alongside him, as well as having played against him in the Stanley Cup Final last spring, Savard is in an extremely good position to know Josh Anderson inside and out, and he makes no bones about it. It's a lot more fun to play WITH Anderson than against him.
"He's a guy who brought a lot of energy to our team in Columbus. It was a big loss for us when he was traded to Montreal. He's a guy that can change the game on his own with the way he skates and the way he can hit. Over the years, you can see that he's improved and he understands the game better. That's what has allowed him to be so successful in Columbus. I think his positioning is much better than it was in the early years. He's improved in that area to become a complete player. He's a tough player to play against. I'm glad I'm now on the same side as him."
The Saint-Hyacinthe native will have to wait before making his debut in the Red, White, and Blue uniform, as it will be Group B that will face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, for the first of the team's six preparatory games. David Savard, who is in Group A along with his friend Josh Anderson, will most likely play his first game on Monday against the Maple Leafs or, at the latest, on Friday against the Ottawa Senators.
