As reported in the last few seconds, CH GM Kent Hughes has traded forward Artturi Lehkonen to the Colorado Avalanche for excellent young defenseman Justin Barron and a second round pick.

The experts are unanimous, this is an incredible return for Lehkonen.

Barron, 20, was drafted 25th overall in 2020 by the Avalanche and is seen as a great future NHL defenseman. He has 20 points in 43 games this season in the AHL.

What an acquisition honestly, we're really talking about a "top prospect" here.

Official announcement from the organization:

"The Canadiens are trading forward Artturi Lehkonen to the Colorado Avalanche for defenseman Justin Barron and a 2nd round pick in 2024." - Montreal Canadiens

Please also note a new detail that is surfacing: the Tricolore is withholding 50% of Lehkonen's 2.3 million salary in this deal with the Avalanche. Remember that the Finn will be a restricted player WITH compensation this summer.
